Francis Knowles died from wounds on 4th January, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Royal West Surrey (Queens) battalion was part of 22 Brigade, 7th Division, and during January and February, 1915 were holding the line in the Fleurbaix sector of the Western Front. |
